The cause of rickets resistant to vitamin D

Resistant rickets Vitamin D is a disease in which bones become soft and will easily also be easily bent with pain, because it contains very little blood in phosphate and vitamin D are active in an amount not sufficient.

The disease is most likely a hereditary disease, with a dominant gene carried by the X chromosome and A defective gene causes abnormalities in the kidneys which allows the kidneys to release phosphate into the urine so that the levels of phosphate in the blood to be reduced or low. In rare cases, the disease arises as a result of certain cancers:
Giant cell tumor of bone
Sarcoma
Prostate Cancer
Breast cancer.

Symptoms usually begin to appear during infancy. Nature can be very mild so it does not cause symptoms or very severe resulting in:
- Bending the legs and other bone disorders
- Bone pain
- Short posture.

Excess bone growth in the attachment of muscles causes the joints where the movement is limited. Baby's skull close too fast, causing seizures.

Laboratory tests showed normal blood calcium levels, but low phosphate levels.

The goal of treatment is to increase levels of phosphate in the blood, which will facilitate the growth of normal bone. Provision of phosphate by mouth should be coupled with the provision of calcitriol (vitamin D is active). In adult patients, if the cause was cancer, then to overcome this disease should be performed surgery to remove the cancer.
